# Kaeso > Kaeso is an open-source AI gateway you run yourself, so applications talk to one API while you keep provider keys, routing, and usage under your control. Kaeso is an MIT-licensed AI gateway written in Rust. Apps keep the official OpenAI or Anthropic SDK and change only the base URL and key: `https://kaeso.example.com/v1` with a Kaeso key (`sk-kso-…`). Kaeso checks the key, the model and the limits, calls the provider with the organization's own provider key, translates between API formats, and logs and costs every request. There is no hosted Kaeso; you run it with Docker Compose. ## Website - [Home](https://kaeso.app/): what Kaeso does, with the console and examples - [Providers](https://kaeso.app/providers): every built-in provider and how an organization signs in to it - [Gateway](https://kaeso.app/gateway): every request step by step and what an app gets at each step, keys, state and operations - [Changelog](https://kaeso.app/changelog): every released version, each with its own page - [Kaeso 0.4.0](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.4.0) (2026-10-23) - [Kaeso 0.3.9](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.9) (2026-10-23) - [Kaeso 0.3.8](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.8) (2026-10-23) - [Kaeso 0.3.7](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.7) (2026-10-22) - [Kaeso 0.3.6](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.6) (2026-10-22) - [Kaeso 0.3.5](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.5) (2026-10-21) - [Kaeso 0.3.4](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.4) (2026-10-21) - [Kaeso 0.3.3](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.3) (2026-10-21) - [Kaeso 0.3.2](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.2) (2026-10-21) - [Kaeso 0.3.1](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.1) (2026-10-21) - [Kaeso 0.3.0](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.3.0) (2026-10-21) - [Kaeso 0.2.2](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.2.2) (2026-10-18) - [Kaeso 0.2.1](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.2.1) (2026-10-18) - [Kaeso 0.2.0](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.2.0) (2026-10-18) - [Kaeso 0.1.0](https://kaeso.app/changelog/0.1.0) (2026-10-16) - [Articles](https://kaeso.app/articles): how Kaeso works and what each release brings, with an [RSS feed](https://kaeso.app/articles/feed.xml) - [Full text](https://kaeso.app/llms-full.txt): the facts from every page in one file - Every page is also in German under [https://kaeso.app/de](https://kaeso.app/de) and in Simplified Chinese under [https://kaeso.app/zh-CN](https://kaeso.app/zh-CN), as are the docs ## Docs - [Quick start](https://docs.kaeso.app/get-started/quick-start): the first request in minutes - [Calling models](https://docs.kaeso.app/get-started/calling-models): OpenAI and Anthropic SDKs, curl - [Coding tools](https://docs.kaeso.app/get-started/coding-tools): Claude Code and Codex through Kaeso - [Installation](https://docs.kaeso.app/self-hosting/installation): Docker Compose on your own server - [Configuration](https://docs.kaeso.app/self-hosting/configuration): `KAESO_*` variables and the TOML file - [Model API](https://docs.kaeso.app/api/model-api): every endpoint under `/v1` - [Platform API](https://docs.kaeso.app/api/platform-api): everything the console does, under `/platform/v1` - [Request flow](https://docs.kaeso.app/concepts/request-flow): the steps of every request - [Format translation](https://docs.kaeso.app/concepts/format-translation): what crosses between formats ## Optional - [Documentation home](https://docs.kaeso.app) - [Source on GitHub](https://github.com/logicplanes/kaeso) - [Releases](https://github.com/logicplanes/kaeso/releases) - [Discussions](https://github.com/logicplanes/kaeso/discussions) - [Kaeso UI](https://ui.kaeso.app): the component library the console and this site are built with - [Impressum](https://kaeso.app/impressum): legal notice, in German - [Datenschutzerklärung](https://kaeso.app/datenschutz): privacy policy, in German
