Kaeso 0.5.2 lets Claude Code and Codex work with models that list no effort levels or don't reason, instead of failing those requests. Kaeso now leaves out the unsupported effort or adaptive thinking and reports it in the kaeso-left-out header, while an unsupported effort value or enabled thinking still returns an error. Fresh installs start with KPMR's models and prices as of 2 November 2026, and four DeepSeek models now refuse JSON schemas before sending. There are no breaking changes in this release.

Changed
Gateway
- A fresh install starts with KPMR's models and prices as of 2 November 2026, which add OpenRouter's
openai/gpt-5.2-chatand update several OpenRouter prices and limits.deepseek-flash,deepseek-v4-pro,deepseek-v4-flashanddeepseek-v4-flash-vision-expno longer list structured output, so Kaeso refuses a JSON schema for them before sending and namesresponse_format, while JSON mode (json_object) works as before. Running installs get the same data from KPMR on their own. (#581 (opens in a new tab))
Fixed
- Claude Code and Codex now reach models that list no effort levels or don't reason. Kaeso leaves out the effort (
output_config.effort,reasoning.effortorreasoning_effort) or adaptivethinkingthat the model cannot use, and names it in thekaeso-left-outheader. An effort outside the model's levels, and enabled thinking or a budget for a non-reasoning model, are still refused. (#580 (opens in a new tab))
